Cheryl “Mac” McKenna
Consultant

More than just a “CPA with an MBA,” Cheryl's career has been defined by her passion for nonprofit work. She joined a regional accounting firm after college, quickly developing a specialty and expertise in nonprofit auditing and accounting.

Cheryl then served as chief financial officer of the Community Foundation of Lorain County, Ohio, for 13 years, navigating the organization through two market crashes and achieving a remarkable 140 percent growth in assets. For the past five years, she has served as chief financial officer of Joybound People & Pets.

Cheryl’s commitment to the foundation sector is also evident through her service to the field. She served four years as chair of the Fiscal and Administrative Officers Group (FAOG), a decade on the Council on Foundation’s Accounting Practices Committee, and seven years on Philanthropy Ohio’s Audit Committee. She also pioneered the original document submission format for the Community Foundation National Standards accreditation process, leading CF Lorain County to become the first nationally accredited community foundation.

Cheryl joined EAC in 2023, eager to bring her wealth of expertise in finance, human resources, information technology, and operations back to the community foundation field.
